WHY SHOULD I BUY A MATURE OLIVE TREE?
Mature olive trees have an extremely distinctive and unique shape that takes years to develop. All our trees are 20+ years old. They will become an instant feature to any property, whether they are potted around your home or lining a driveway. Aside from purely aesthetic uses they are an excellent windbreak and are very drought tolerant once water hardened. They do of course, also produce olives!
WHAT SORT OF CLIMATE SUITS BEST?
Olive trees are extremely hardy and thrive best in Mediterranean climates. They do however excel even in sub tropical environments such as South East Queensland. Conversely, they can cope with freezing conditions and snow. Olive trees are also moderately salt tolerant and can be grown in coastal areas. The best Australian climates for successful growth of olive trees are WA, SA, VIC, NSW, TAS and SE QLD.
WATER REQUIREMENTS?
Olive trees are very drought tolerant trees. They do however do better if they are regularly watered. Trees should be planted in well drained areas. They do not like wet feet!
BEST SOIL?
Best soil is well drained pH 5.5-8.5 with fertilisers such as Searles premium potting mix or similar, to reduce stress during transplant. In addition, tonics such as Charlie Carp or Seasol should be added to water in the first few weeks after transplant.
WHAT IS TREE CALLIPER?
Tree calliper is the DIAMETER of a tree at a height of 1.4m. It is used to determine tree size by nursery’s and landscapers. An easy method of determining this figure is to use a clamp. Set the clamp to the correct height, then wind the clamp until both sides of the clamp are touching the tree. To then determine the diameter simply measure the distance between the clamp jaws. Our range of tree calliper is from 150-300mm.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I ORDER MY TREE?
Once you order a tree the process of preparation for removal takes place. A trench is dug around the rootball and then filled with wet sacking. This process allows the cut roots to seal and reduces stress in transfer. Once the trench is dug it is recommended leaving the tree to heal for one to two weeks. The tree is then watered and lightly pruned. Following this procedure the tree is ready for removal which is done mechanically. We then co-ordinate with you regarding transport.
HOW DO I MAKE PAYMENT?
Once you've selected your tree, we require a deposit of 30% prior to preparing the tree for transportation. Full payment must then be made on or prior to collection. We accept bank transfers or cash on collection. Please contact us for more information.
